We submitted our entries to The Grocer Gold Awards just as the world changed, in the “Sustainability Initiative of the Year” and “Waste Not Want Not” categories. We’re extremely thrilled to reveal the good news that we have been shortlisted, alongside Co-op, Tesco, Company Shop, Waitrose and other leading businesses.
The Sustainability Initiative of the Year is for strategy or solutions that have had seriously green results. Our submission details how, over the last 18 months, we have taken decisive climate action. We’re aiming to lead sustainability across agriculture and food production on a global scale by fully integrating sustainability into what we do, how we work, and why we do it - making it “Second Nature”.
The Waste Not, Want Not Award is for retailers and manufacturers whose innovative and collaborative approaches and/or exhaustive investigation of their supply chain has delivered the most compelling results.
One example of how we combat food waste is through our Waste Warrior programme, which gives our people opportunities to make a difference in tackling food waste, both within and outside of the business. As well as coming up with new ideas to tackle food waste, our Waste Warriors help with our broader education and outreach efforts such as combating food poverty and delivering cooking lessons using surplus food. The Awards event has been postponed to 2nd November. This is a big thank you to all colleagues who are making Second Nature integral to their day to day lives. It is fantastic to be recognised.
