Cranswick Employees Raise £3,000 completing Total Warrior

Around 40 of Cranswick’s courageous employees put their trainers and running vests on, to brave the mud and participate in Total Warrior at Bramham Park, Leeds to raise money for charity. After months of training and dedication, everyone successfully crossed the finish line with their team mates, with nothing but a few sore legs and bruises.

The 12km course consisted of 25 grueling obstacles, involving leaping over fire, plunging into ice baths, scrambling over 10ft walls and wading through swamps of mud.

Across the 7 sites who took part, a total amount of just over £3,000 was raised for numerous chosen charities. The two main charities which Cranswick are fundraising for are the Trussell Trust and the charity Platform, supported by the Hey Smile Foundation.

Platform is a charity based in Hull, set up in 2017 with support from the HEY Smile Foundation, which provide day respite facilities and care for young people with complex physical, mental and learning disabilities.

A building was secured in 2017, and through hard work fundraising the foundation have managed to fully refurbish the building and complete the installation of specialised equipment, such as overhead hoists in all working areas and bathrooms facilities, interactive whiteboards for engagement and activities, a state of the art sensory room including waterbed and eye gazing equipment and a fully accessible kitchen.

The Trussell Trust is a registered charity which runs a network of over 400 foodbanks, providing emergency food and support to people in crisis across the UK, where thirteen million people live below the poverty line. Throughout 2017 the charity gave 1,332,952 three day emergency food supplies to people in crisis. Find out more about the charity here.

Cranswick are confident that their efforts to fundraise for these two charities allow them to engage with and support their local community in Hull, whereby a large proportion of their 10,000 employees are based, whilst also helping to tackle the Nationwide pressing issue of food poverty.
