Cranswick apprentice Jack White has not only won the award for Best Meat Processing Apprentice 2018, but the ultimate prize of 2018 Champion Meat Apprentice of the Year prize at this year’s Annual Institute of Meat /Worshipful Company of Butchers prize giving, held in London on Thursday 21st February 2019.
This award is presented to the apprentice that judges feel incorporates the correct skills, attitude and passion to be deserving of this prestigious accolade. The categories covered a wide selection of butchery skills with each category winner in the running for the top award. Jack receives a winner’s trophy and certificate, a year’s free membership of the Institute of Meat and an additional cash prize of £500.
In a tradition dating back over quarter of a century, the Institute of Meat (IoM) and Worshipful Company of Butchers (WCB) awards the achievements of apprentices, employers and training providers at their annual prize-giving event. The ceremony was attended by HRH The Princess Royal, a Past Master of the Worshipful Company of Butchers and a Fellow of the Institute of Meat. She was joined by over a hundred guests at the event.
Twelve category winners were presented with their awards by The Princess Royal together with Institute of Meat Chief Executive Keith Fisher and, for the Master Butcher Awards, Chairman of the Institute of Meat, Bill Jermey,
