Cranswick’s Food Heroes; it’s eight extraordinary food experts, are integral to the business, bringing their passion and artisan knowledge to the product range.
In appreciation of these culinary champions, two weeks of recognition were held across the business for Food Hero Fortnight.
As part of this, Cranswick were delighted to be able to welcome all eight of the Food Heroes together for a day of celebration and learning. This was the first time that all of the esteemed food heroes had been together in the one room. It was fantastic to hear their stories, how their passion for incredible food continues and how they have developed their expertise and artisan techniques.
Attended by colleagues from across the business, the day started with thick cut smoked back bacon butties in buttered brioche rolls – which, in the opinion of Gourmet Bacon’s Chris Battle, should be enjoyed without an accompaniment of sauce. When the bacon’s that good, why would you need anything else?!
Lunch was provided by a team of Cranswick chefs, with the mouthwatering menu giving a nod to each of the food heroes.
Alongside some incredible food, the day included several ‘In Conversation’ sessions, demonstrations and even a guided tasting from Cranswick Continentals Fine Food Sourcing expert Vaz Frigerio who shared his expert knowledge with the audience.
Each of the Food Heroes explained how they came to work with Cranswick and how they’ve worked together to upscale their traditional methods, while staying true to their crafts. The characters of each of the Food Heroes really shone through and it was an excellent opportunity to find out more about how each of them had contributed to the Cranswick story.
